The Yaesu SCU-17 is an interface designed for operating digital modes with nearly all current Yaesu transceivers. The SCU-17 functions as a USB sound card, which means that only a single USB cable is required between the interface and the computer. All signals are galvanically isolated to prevent ground loops. This includes the transmission of audio-in, audio-out, PTT, FSK and CAT signals. The keying lines are isolated by opto-isolators, and the audio paths are isolated by coupling transformers.
The SCU-17 is enclosed in a metal housing to prevent RF interference. The front panel includes two control knobs for input and output audio levels, allowing fast modulation-level adjustment without navigating PC sound-card menus. In addition, the front panel has three LEDs indicating Power, PTT, and FSK status. The SCU-17 is powered directly via the USB port, requiring no external power supply.
Installation requires downloading and installing the Virtual COM Port Driver from the Yaesu website.
Important: Install this driver before connecting the interface to the computer.
